Bangalow Showgrounds DIY wedding
A soft afternoon light, wide blue sky, and a day full of colour. Family and friends shaped the space with care. Nothing felt overdone. Everything moved in a warm, natural rhythm.
How I work
I keep the flow intact and photograph what is there. I aim to frame things as they are, beautifully, in a minimal way, never too loud. I give only the smallest cue when needed, then I wait with the right distance and light. I want the air of the day to rise again when you look back.
Place and weather
Bangalow sits in the Northern Rivers hills. The Showgrounds offer open lawn, big trees, and shade that stays cool through the afternoon. We had clear sun and a light breeze. The light stayed gentle and colours held true all day.
Colourful dress code and flowers
Guests arrived in bright tones and bold prints. Orange, pink, red, blue. Bouquets echoed the palette with layered texture and shape. The colour brought a light rhythm to every frame. In camera and in edit I balanced the strong hues with calm skin tones and the green of the grounds.
Ceremony under the big tree
Chairs in a loose arc. The couple standing below a beautiful old tree. Smiles from the first steps of the processional. Laughter and a few tears moving through the crowd. Short and personal vows. People, light, and the air between them stayed at the centre. I moved between wide and close to keep a clear spine to the story.
Confetti recessional
After the first kiss we went straight into hugs and confetti. Petals caught the sun and the aisle turned into a ribbon of colour. I did not rely on long bursts. A few well timed frames held the joy with space to breathe.
Afternoon portraits
A short walk. A pause in the shade. A few steps together in open light. Minimal direction. Time to simply be. The afternoon softened and both skin and florals looked beautiful without effort. Editing stayed light. Detail intact, contrast kept gentle.
DIY details that felt like them
Friends arranged flowers and signage. Tables were set with care. The mood stayed easy as the day moved on. Community first and comfort first. Choosing only what mattered left room for everything else to feel calm and together.
Why Bangalow Showgrounds suits local weddings
Room for colour and movement. Plenty of shade and an easy sense of space. A backdrop that does not compete, so people and relationships read clearly. A good fit for couples who want something relaxed with personality.
Planning notes
Best light in the last hour before sunset and the first minutes after. Keep ceremony seating loose so the view can breathe. On warm days set water and shade for early arrivals. A bright dress code looks beautiful against long grass and blue sky. I keep the process natural and add a light prompt only when it helps.
